Robert is an experienced Musical Director, with a strong background in leading productions for both professional adults and children. Over the years, he has shaped and guided numerous successful shows, including:
Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Oliver!, The Wizard of Oz, Mary Poppins, Bugsy Malone, Swan Lake the Musical, Tarzan the Musical, Sweet Charity, Godspell, and Pippin.
Arranging & Adaptation
In addition to musical direction, Robert has often arranged full scores for smaller ensembles and adapted musicals to suit the specific needs of schools, community groups, and theatre companies. This includes shortening shows when necessary, while keeping the music and story intact, ensuring every production is achievable and engaging for the performers of all ages and experience levels.
Directing & Collaboration
Robert has frequently taken on the duel role of Director and Musical Director, overseeing both the musical and creative aspects of a production. He enjoys collaborating closely with casts and creative teams, bringing out the best in each performer. His approach emphasises clarity, preparation, and musicality, whether working with young students, amateur performers, or professionals.
Teaching & Mentoring
Along his production work, Robert is passionate about teaching and mentoring performers. He provides guidance on singing, musical interpretation, and stagecraft, helping performers develop confidence and skill. His experience with diverse groups ensures that every participant, regardless of age or experience, has the opportunity to succeed and enjoy the process.
